Membership

Membership in the Virginia Society, Daughters of the Revolution 1776, is open to women of good character who can establish a lineal, bloodline descent from an ancestor who faithfully supported the cause of American Independence during the Revolutionary War.

For purposes of our Bylaws and membership requirements, the term “woman” refers to an individual who is biologically female from birth.

Our Darlings are the younger members of the Virginia Society Daughters of the Revolution 1776. Junior membership is open to girls under the age of 18 who share an interest in American history, patriotism, and the legacy of our Revolutionary ancestors.

Darlings are encouraged to participate in Society activities, historical programs, patriotic events, and fellowship with our members. Through these experiences, we hope to nurture an appreciation for our nation’s history and traditions while giving our youngest members an opportunity to learn, serve, and build friendships.

Our Darlings represent the next generation of women who will carry forward the story and spirit of America’s founding.
